Manchester United are reportedly preparing for life without Marcus Rashford, with a shortlist of five potential replacements drawn up.
According to reports, the club is open to selling the 27-year-old forward next year, as his form continues to disappoint this season. Once considered untouchable, the Manchester-born player is now believed to be on the radar of European giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. However, any move will hinge on United’s valuation of their homegrown star.
PSG are said to have previously held talks with Rashford and remain interested, especially as they search for a long-term successor to Kylian Mbappé, who departed the club on a free transfer last summer.
The five-man shortlist
Reports from CaughtOffside suggest that United have identified five players to potentially fill Rashford’s shoes: Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyökeres, Dušan Vlahović, Evan Ferguson, and Kenan Yildiz.
Gyökeres, currently flourishing under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, is enjoying a standout campaign and is regarded as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. Osimhen, on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, also remains an option despite his contractual ties to the Serie A side.
Meanwhile, Ferguson’s struggles at Brighton could make him available for a temporary move, while Juventus’ Yildiz has impressed, though prising him away from Turin would be a challenge.
Rashford’s recent form
Interestingly, Rashford delivered a strong performance in United’s recent fixtures, scoring his first goal under manager Ruben Amorim against Ipswich Town before netting twice in a commanding 4-0 victory over Everton.
Amorim, however, believes Rashford still has plenty of room for improvement. “There’s so much more he can achieve,” Amorim said after the Everton match. “He had a good game, but he shouldn’t rest on his laurels. Like the rest of the squad, he needs to keep pushing himself.
“We’ll recover tomorrow and focus on the Arsenal game,” he added.
The future of Rashford remains uncertain, but it’s clear that Manchester United are already considering their options as the possibility of his departure grows.
